Use lateral reading to reduce bias and verify credibility
Cross check information from one source and find out what other similar sources say about the topic. Ask:
Does it pass a trustworthiness test?
Do other sources substantiate the claims?
What is the "big picture view?"
Where did the information originate?
Who is the author?
What are its strengths or limitations?
