Track sources as you research
Use a tracking tool to help manage sources, and many also help you format citations. There's no right way to do it. Just find a way that works for you! Here are some ideas:
Keep a running list in using Microsoft Word or Excel
Write sources on notecards and organize them by project
Keep a digital notebook using Microsoft OneNote
Use NoodleTools to organize citations by project and get support for citations
Cite sources using style guides
Proper citations help you contribute to ethical scholarship and avoid plagiarism. Use the Purdue Online Writing Center's Style Guide Overview learn about different styles.
